Patek Philippe launches rose gold Aquanaut chronograph watch

As part of its 2023 Watches & Wonders launches, Patek Philippe has added a rose gold Aquanaut chronograph to its catalog, joining existing steel and white gold versions. The new Patek Philippe Aquanaut Chronograph Reference 5968R-001 comes in an 18K rose gold case with a brown and black gradient sunburst dial and a brown composite strap.

Like its peers, the new 2023 Aquanaut Chronograph 5968R comes in a 120-meter water-resistant case that is 42.2 mm in diameter and 11.9 mm thick. On the right side of the case there is a chronograph pusher located on the side of the winding crown. The typically rounded octagonal bezel benefits from polished and satin-brushed finishes, while the dial is protected by a sapphire crystal.

The new rose gold case houses a sunburst brown dial with black gradient edges and, of course, the signature Aquanaut convex grid pattern. The dial is decorated with three-dimensional Arabic numerals and baton hands, all made of gold, matching the case and coated with luminous coating. Adjacent to the hours are figures filled with luminous light to increase legibility in the dark. There is also a date window at 3 o'clock, a 60-minute counter at 6 o'clock, and a central chronograph hand.

The caseback of the new Patek Philippe Aquanaut Chronograph features the customary sapphire crystal, allowing one to admire the self-winding Caliber CH 28‑520 C flyback chronograph movement. Thanks to the movement’s column-wheel drive and vertical disc clutch system, the central chronograph seconds hand can double as a seconds hand and run continuously without any negative impact on the functionality of the movement. The movement runs at 28,800 vibrations per hour and offers a power reserve of 45 to 55 hours.

The Patek Philippe Aquanaut Chronograph Reference 5968R-001 comes on a brown composite strap that is not only the same shade as the dial, but also decorated with the same pattern, making it look almost like a piece of Swiss chocolate. The strap is equipped with an 18K rose gold Aquanaut folding clasp engraved with Patek Philippe’s iconic Calatrava cross.

This chocolatey goodness is not new to the Aquanaut range. Patek Philippe has incorporated it into its flagship time and date Aquanaut collection as well as the complex Aquanaut Travel Time collection. There is no doubt that this new Aquanaut Chronograph (Ref. 5968R) in rose gold and brown will be as popular as the other two models.
